“With a people-focussed multi-industry career that covers expertise across HR Delivery, Strategy and more, in 2018 I finally understood my true ‘Why?’.  As an LGBTQ+ male, from a single parent family I know what it feels like to be marginalised and live as a minority.” – Garry Clarke-Strange

Answering the call of Simon Sinek’s famous ‘Start With Why’ book, Garry’s ‘why?’ is People and making everyone feel like they can be themselves.

Garry has an extensive career across Human Resources (HR), Talent Acquisition and Business Advisory with a focus on FREDIE™ (Fairness | Respect | Equality | Diversity | Inclusion | Engagement).

Garry is well suited to his role with Irish Centre for Diversity where he is a member of our team of experts that designs and delivers a range of training and specialist development programmes to support organisations with transforming workplace culture.

Garry has helped to drive progress by leading FREDIE across a broad range of sectors including Consultancy and roles with a major airport group, in broadcasting, travel, with a leading medical services provider, a UK brewery, with an Entertainment Industry giant and more.  His work has been recognised by a nomination at the Burberry British Diversity Awards 2023 and he previously held a board position with a national LGBTQ+ health and well-being charity that provides information, services and support to tackle isolation, persecution, discrimination, health inequalities and more.

As a consultant, Garry focuses on creating training that feels human, reflective and grounded in real experience. He draws on both his professional background and his personal experiences and interactions, alongside current research, to deliver sessions that resonate with teams at every level, across sectors and industries. His aim is always to build greater understanding, confidence and practical support for organisations on the path of progress.

Alongside his consulting work, Garry hosts the Think Inclusion podcast where he has interviewed multiple guests with different life experiences by creating a safe space to share their stories in their own words. He sees this as a privilege, and the insights shared continue to shape and strengthen his approach to training and advisory work.

“By embracing and understanding my own struggles to feel included my passion for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion is my primary career and mission to help organisations in creating an environment where their people are supported and can be their true selves and belong.”
