Aldi - IiD Gold - Testimonial

The Investors in Diversity framework provides a valuable opportunity to step back and review your organisation’s approach to inclusion. The process encourages honest reflection and provides practical guidance on how to strengthen policies, leadership, and colleague engagement.

For ALDI, it was not simply about achieving accreditation, but about using the process to continue improving and ensuring that diversity and inclusion remain an important part of how ALDI supports its colleagues and operate as a business

ALDI IRELAND’S INVESTORS IN DIVERSITY (IiD) JOURNEY

At ALDI Ireland, we have always believed that a strong business is built on a culture where colleagues feel respected, supported, and able to be themselves at work. As the business has grown across Ireland, it was important for ALDI to take a structured look at how we support Diversity & Inclusion across the Stores, Warehouses and National teams. Engaging with Investors in Diversity gave the business the opportunity to review our approach through an external framework, understand where ALDI is performing well and identify areas where the business can continue to improve. This accreditation has allowed us to benchmark ALDI’s work against recognised standards and ensure we continue to progress in a meaningful and measurable way.

One of the most valuable aspects of the process was the opportunity to step back and reflect on the work already taking place across our organisation. The framework assisted the review of ALDI’s initiatives more holistically and consider how they connect with leadership, policies, and our colleagues experience. It also reinforced the importance of listening to our colleagues. The feedback gathered during the process gave us a clearer understanding of what initiatives were having the greatest impact and where there were opportunities to strengthen ALDI’s approach even further.

It was very encouraging to see the level of engagement our colleagues had with many of the initiatives already in place.

– Programmes such as our Women in Leadership initiative, Menopause Ambassador network and wider colleague support resources were frequently highlighted as meaningful supports

– What stood out most was the sense of ownership colleagues felt in contributing to a more inclusive culture. That feedback reinforced that inclusion is something colleagues across our business value and want to be part of

– The accreditation has helped to further strengthen the visibility of Diversity & Inclusion within our organisation

– It has encouraged more conversations across teams and reinforced the importance of inclusive leadership at all levels of the business

– It has also helped us maintain momentum by providing a clear framework for ongoing development.

Since completing the process, we have continued to build on existing initiatives, strengthen colleague engagement, and ensure inclusion remains an active part of how ALDI operates as a business.
